The North Coast Inland Trail follows the railroad tracks northwest before entering the city of Fremont. Once into the city, the bike trail turns into a road route which follows alongside the roads beginning with S. Park Ave. before turning left and following Birchard Ave. The trail continues to run beside the road as it turns right along S. Jefferson St. and then turns left onto Napoleon Rd. A right turn follows onto N. Brush St. At the end of N. Brush St., a left turn followed by a right onto Walter Ave. then leads back onto the bike trail which leads northwest out of the city.
Fremont is the county seat of Sandusky County and measures a little over 8.5 square miles large. As of the 2012 census, Fremont had a population of 16,734. The city is home to many useful amenities for a cyclist including a bike shop, restrooms, lodging and restaurants. Fremont also has a recreation center, hospital and police station.
